The second edition of the Youth Policy Dialogue (YPD) provides another platform for young people to engage with Commissioner Christophe Hansen, exchanging views on the evolving future of agriculture, food systems and rural life. Centred on the theme “Towards a strategy on generational renewal, this Dialogue will focus on the needs, aspirations, and barriers faced by young people entering or remaining in the farming sector. This time the YPD takes place in the margins of the Conference on the Vision for Agriculture and Food.
Participants—representing youth-led organisations active in agriculture, environmental advocacy, and rural development will address the challenges on generational renewal with a particular focus on access to land and finance.
The outcomes of the Dialogue will contribute directly to the Commission’s ongoing work on devising a strategy for generational renewal in agriculture, as well as the recently launched broader Vision for Agriculture and Food.
Participants
The participants for this Dialogue have been selected among the national membership of EU-level organisations active in agriculture, food, rural areas and environmental advocacy that are explicitly youth-led. The selection is aimed at respecting gender and geographical balance. Participants are below 40 years old in line with the age limit to qualify as a young farmer.

Description
The main objectives of Youth Policy Dialogues are to encourage young people to express their views on EU policy initiatives by interacting with Commissioners and to integrate youth views in the EU’s political agenda.
The dialogues foster open discussions, share insights, and build connections with young people on pressing issues and empower young people by fostering their active engagement in democratic life. Youth Policy Dialogues enable young people to better understand the choices behind policy decisions and their impact.
Youth policy dialogues will be organised annually.
